Self catering and B&B
If there are fewer than 11 people in self catering accommodation or fewer than 8 guests in a guest house or B&B the specific guidance given by the Safer Communities Directorate of the Scottish Government is at Annex 2
Portable Appliance Testing
Although there is no specific legal requirement for PAT to be conducted, the EAWR 1989 and various employment regulations demand that employers ensure the safety of staff. Hosts will want to protect guests too.


Fire Risk Assessment
Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 places the responsibility on Duty Holders to ensure that a Fire Risk Assessment has been conducted. This can be very complex and daunting. If you're unsure, contact HSEP for peace of mind.
